The young and very talented Annette Obrestad, also known as Annette_15 online, is positive that her team will take home the gold for Europe. After showing her skills numerous times online and taking home the Main Event Gold Bracelet in WSOPE 2007, Europe can rest assure that they´re in good hands.

-Annette Obrestad-

G: You are barely 21, but have already done what most poker players can just dream about. What do you think makes you so successful in both online and live poker?
O: I think what separates me from your normal poker player, is that I put in a lot more time, not just playing, but also going through games I've played before to look for mistakes. I watch training videos to catch up with what people are doing when I don’t have time to play and I’m REALLY hard on myself if I make a mistake. I make sure if I ever make that mistake again I'll feel horrible about it for a looong time after!

G: How do you stay focused and maintaining discipline while playing poker and learning more about the game?
O: If you have a passion for something, it’s really easy. I don’t see poker as a job, I see it as something I LOVE to do, and which I’ve allowed to become a huge part of my life. I’m also extremely competitive and I hate to lose. So I always get more motivated to try even harder when I'm not running or playing as good as Id like.

G: Could you mention some of the poker achievements that have meant the most for you?
O: Obviously the win in London is what turned my life around and let me start playing more live, and getting to know and work with all the great people in Betfair. After that, every tourney I’ve played has meant something for me. Whether it be good or bad, but it’s something I’m able to learn from and take with me to the next tourney I’m playing.

G: You will be the Captain for the European Team in Caesars Cup. And will be facing the best players from South- and North America and their Team Captain Daniel Negreanu. What are your expectations for the European team in this event?
O: I’m pretty excited about this actually. If our team loses, I'll quit poker.... no I’m just kidding :)\. But I do think we have an edge over the other team, and I'll be quite surprised if we don’t come out on top this time.

G: What events are you going to play in WSOPE 2009?
O: Hopefully all of them.

G: And finally, can you give our readers some good pointers into becoming a successful STT and MTT players?
O: Play play play play.. it’s the most simple but also the most effective thing you can do to improve your game. The more hands you play, the better you will know how to handle the situations that come up. If you have friends that are better than you who play, maybe ask them to watch you play a session, and then tell you what they think your weaknesses are, so you know what to work on. Also, there are soooo many good online training sites out there. Investing money in them is probably the smartest thing you can do if you’re mediocre but very serious about your game.

I liked the interview, and I think Annette has made herself a big name in the poker community.

Though all the good players always give the same advice, like play, play, play... it seems like when you want to become a good player like Annette you really need to love the game and live with the game 24/7. You really need some patience and trust in yourself to be able devote your life to something like poker. I admire all professional poker players for that.

Cheers!
