Today marks the start of the World Series of Poker Main Event 2009, $10,000 buy-in. This is the tournament event of the year. The player, who takes down the main event, will be lifted to poker celebrity stardom, and probably a juicy poker contract from one of the bigger online poker rooms will be lurking around the corner.
The Main Event that starts today, Friday 3rd, will be the first of 4 starting days. Each day with a cap of 3000 players. The poker event will then be played until July 15, when there are just nine players left. Like last year in 2008, we have to wait until November, to see who claims the Gold Bracelet in WSOP Main Event.
Last year, it was the Danish poker pro Peter Eastgate, who took home the prestigious WSOP Gold Bracelet from the Main Event. Not long after Peter Eastgate called all in on the river with a straight against Ivan Demidovs two pair at the final table and took home $5,809,595, Eastgate signed a long time contract with PokerStars.
