Interview with Boint after CL Open

2010-02-03 • Gugster • Views:353

Cardlovers Open event 3 Season 1 is concluded. Two Swedish card lovers played each other Heads-up. We had the chance to interview the winner, Boint from Stockholm, Sweden.

Gugster: Please tell us a little about yourself
Boint: I’m 26 year old from Stockholm, studying IT at Stockholm University. Spending my remaining time on football (Djurgarden), friends, girlfriend, family and of course poker.

G: For how long have you been playing poker? How did you get started with poker?
B: It’s been about 6 years now since I started playing, when the Swedish poker boom took place. At first it was just for fun with friends, then online and for 2-3 year I started earning som decent money on it too.

G: What did you think about the tournament? How did you experience the competition during the tournament?
B: Cardlovers Open is a very nice initiative. To be able to qualify to the EPT for coffee money is not bad at all. The competition was fierce, I had to fight hard on the final table. The two polish guys (zapalkowy8 and PriestDB) seemed to have nine lives and refused to bust out. I went from a big chip leader to lonely short stack, but managed to turn around everything and could finally win. It was fun to meet another Swede (Baqghert90) in the HU!

G: If you could choose an EPT event you could go to, which would you choose?
B: Bahamas sounds nice! Sun, poker and umbrella drinks. Who would say no?

G: What do you prefer? Cash game vs tournament games?
B: Both types have its charm. In tournaments you have to be more selective with your hands and push the entire stack pre-flop after awhile. One mistake often means that you are beat. In cash games you are able to play any hand, whenever you want, without actually being forced to take huge risk. You can just re-fill if you happen to do something stupid. If I have to choose one form of gambling, it will be cash games, because there is more action and not so much dead times like in tournaments.

G: What will you do with your winnings in Cardlovers Open? Invest in your poker bankroll?
B: Exactly, the latter is what I have done. The money will come in handy.
