Holland Casino in the Netherlands is now standing host of the 17th edition of Master Classics of Poker. A Poker tournament that is played between 7th and 15th of November in Amsterdam and is visited by poker players from all over the world. I had the chance to talk with representative from the Holland Casino about the casino in Amsterdam and about Master Classics of Poker
The ambition for the Holland Casino is to become a leading casino operator in Europe, providing “Gaming, Glamour with Pleasure”. Last year the casino received the Gaming Award for Socially Responsible Operator of the Year, and this year they are nominated for Best Operator Europe. Holland Casino provides 544 gaming tables and over 7,225 slots machines all together. The first Holland Casino opened in Zandvoort in 1976, which gave way the following years to thirteen casinos in the cities of Amsterdam, Breda, Eindhoven, Enshede, Groningen, Leeuwarden, Nijmegen, Rotterdam, Scheveningen, Utrecht, Valkenburg and on Shiphol Airport.
Master Classics of Poker is held in Casino Holland Amsterdam which is located in the central part of Amsterdam. The address to the casino is Max Euweplein 62, 1017 MB Amsterdam. To enter the casino a person needs to be over 18 years old and be able to show identifications.
Last year in 2007 the total prize pot for the Master Classics of Poker reached over €3,7 million in the poker tournament. Several amateurs, semi-pros and poker pros from all over the world are competing in this International poker tournament. This year Holland Casino Master Classics of Poker has poker players representing more than 28 countries like USA, Austria, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Pakistan, Ireland and more.
I had the chance to speak with the tournament Manager Marco Deen of Master Classics of Poker. He told me that the prize pool of the tournament was over €2 million and the winner of the main event will walk away with €625,000 this year. The main event at Master Classics of Poker is called Lido Poker Tournament and has a €6000+€200 buy-in. The starting field of this year main event saw 344 poker players and the tournament is scheduled to end on the 15th November
During the tournament week the casino has 30 cash games tables available. And for poker players that is not coming down on Master Classics of Poker week there are about 10 different cash games tables available during regular days at the casino with the stake €10-€20 Limit Hold’em, €5-€5 NL Hold´em and €10-€10 NL Hold’em. Omaha PL is also available. During Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday Holland Casino Amsterdam is also arranging poker tournaments from €50 to €250.
Furthermore the Holland Casino in Amsterdam has much more than just poker to entertain its guest. They have a great variety of other table’s games like Black Jack, Caribbean Stud, American Roulette, Sic Bo, Punto banco and Big Wheel.
