Danske Spil, the Danish state owned company will soon be opening it´s door for poker and casino. But not before Danske Spil 60-year old gaming monopoly has been terminated.

It´s The Copenhagen Post Online that writes in today’s edition that the Danish government will be breaking up its state gaming monopoly. The major factor for the government’s plan to deregulate the gaming monopoly for Danske Spil was due to the current European Commission lawsuit, alleging how the monopoly violates free market regulations.

This means that international companies will be able to begin e.g. advertising in Denmark. However companies must be licenses from the Danish government, paying a fee and take measures to prevent gambling addiction.

Danske Spil will also be able to offer new gambling features to their player when the regulations changes.

‘We’ll also be able to offer casino gambling and poker now, which we couldn’t do before.’ Said H.C Madsen, Danske Spil´s managing director to The Copenhagen Post Online.
